Marsha Jean (Burns) Hinton, 79, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 12, 2026. She was born in Shawnee, Ohio, on December 22, 1946.
After attending Shawnee schools all her life, Marsha graduated from Miller High School in 1964. Following family tradition, she moved to Columbus after high school and enjoyed a long career starting at State Auto Insurance, followed by Sun TV and Appliances, and Pepsi Co. Most recently, she worked for the Franklin County Board of Elections, where she met many dear friends and always enjoyed the energy of the long election days.
Marsha’s greatest love and joy was her family. One of her greatest attributes was that she never knew a stranger and would make sure everyone felt included in whatever she was doing. She was a constant fixture at sporting events, band competitions, and anything else her grandchildren were involved with, cheering them on with pride. Her energy was contagious and it showed by how many people loved her. She loved hosting extended family and never needed much of an excuse to get everyone together.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Hinton; daughter, Tara (Nat) Floyd; step-children, Nikki (Derek) Erlenbach, Aaron (Heidi) Hinton, Ron (Carolyn) Hinton Jr., and Rhonda (Duane) Ferguson; and brother, Rick Burns. Her legacy lives on through 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Marsha was preceded in death by her father and mother, Lawrence and Bernice (Moody) Burns; grandmother, Nell (Begley) Moody; sisters, Peg McGruder, Elaine Higgins, and Connie Burns; and brothers, Buddy, Bobby, and Bill Burns.
